Woken up at 02:37 hrs by a voice on 4925 kHz - spooky-sounding E06 'The English Man' numbers station

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6VUxmC3tWlA

Hi there, I fell asleep DXing and just happened to have the Icom IC-R71E tuned to 4925 kHz. E06 woke me up in the middle of the night. I was half asleep and didn't even think to change the demodulation mode. Anyway, still clear in AM. Recorded on 26/03/26 in Oxford UK using a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna (outdoors) via a Bonito/NTi AntennaJet RF splitter. Thanks for watching and 73.

What's left on medium wave in the UK? BBC Asian Network 828 kHz only 200 Watts TX power!

Hi there, I love asian music and this station plays a lot of it of course - definitely worth a listen. Only transmitting with 200 Watts of power, but a lovely copy in Oxford.

Recorded on 19/03/26 at 16:32 hrs UTC using a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna (outdoors) via a Bonito/NTi AntennaJet RF splitter.

Testing the Tecsun S2200X on single sideband shortwave signals: CHU Canada on 7850 and 3330 KHz

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6NmJ26UQG8

So it appears that the frequency accuracy of the Tecsun S2200X is actually very good. So close, that it is impossible to check on AM. However, on sideband it reads 120 Hz up. Pretty good IMO. Recorded on 18/03/26 at 02:11 hrs UTC using a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna (outdoors) via a Bonito/NTi AntennaJet RF splitter. Thanks for watching and 73.

Medium wave signals from across the Atlantic Ocean: CFMB 1280 kHz, Montreal, Canada

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pnuNL-YucG4

Hi there, only the 4th time I've copied CFMB...the last being in October 2025. Great to hear them again having spent only a few nights DXing on the MW band. Note the clear ID near the beginning of the video. Recorded in Oxford UK on 10/01/26 at 01:00 hrs UTC using an Icom IC-8600 and Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna via a Bonito?NTi AntennaJet RF splitter and GI1000 galvanic isolator. Thanks for watching and 73.

BBC Radio Wales 882 kHz and BBC Radio scotland 810 kHz both strong signals during the day in Oxford

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En5ZVE3LD3g

Hi there, long live Wales and Scotland on medium wave AM radio in the UK. I think they will last because there are very remote regions across those parts of the country. Recorded on 19/03/26 at 16:15 hrs UTC using a superb Yaesu FRG-7 and a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna (outdoors). via a Bonito/NTi AntennaJet RF splitter. Thanks for watching and 73.

Antena Satelor from Brasov, Romania 153 kHz copied from Oxford UK in the afternoon at 16:45 hrs UTC

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPtBGQwra0s

Hi there, great to hear Antena Satelor with multiple IDs in the afternoon from the UK. You can't hear them in the evenings any more - I miss the great folk music they used to play all night. Recorded on 05/01/26 using a Yaesu FRG-8800 and a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna, via a Bonito/NTi AntennaJet RF splitter and a GI1000 galvanic isolator. Thanks for watching and 73.

Radio New Zealand Pacific 13755 kHz Bellbird interval signal & ID copied on the OG Yaesu FRG-7700

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDiSukoIkU8

Hi there, great to copy my favourite station on shortwave with one of the greats from the 1970s...the iconic FRG-7700. With an excellent reputation for MW DXing, this rig also performs on HF, but it makes me happy just looking at it lol. Recorded in Oxford UK on 18/12/25 at 10:59 hrs UTC using a Bonito/NTi MegaLoop FX antenna. Thanks for watching and 73.

MW DX: Harbour Light of the Windwards 1400 kHz Carriacou, Grenada on the vintage JRC NRD525

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gWh4oI9rAI

Hi there, nice to copy this station in Grenada again - and they were kind enough to contact me via this channel, recently. Check out the recovered audio in the wide and narrower AM AF filter.

What's left on medium wave? SNRT Al Idaâ Al-Watania 595 kHz Morocco

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S51Fsl-hzZM

Good to hear Morocco represented so well on AM radio in both the longwave and medium wave bands. Their reported TX power is 50 kW and coming into Oxford quite nicely via the wonderful FRG-8800. Recorded on 19/11/25 at 01:28 hrs UTC using a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna (outdoors) via a Bonito/NTi AntennaJet RF splitter and GI1000 galvanic isolator. Thanks for watching and 73.

What's left on medium wave: Radio Zuidwester 1332 kHz, IJlst, The Netherlands, only 10W TX power!

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ztMojzZXweU

Hi there, according to the www.mwlist.org website (which is great by the way), this station in The Netherlands transmits with only 10W of TX power. Never heard them before - it's amazing what you can dig up on medium wave if you actually bother to listen in, night after night. Recorded in Oxford UK on 13/12/25 at 02:18 hrs UTC using a Yaesu FRG-8800 and a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna (outdoors) via a Bonito/NTi AntennaJet RF splitter and GI1000 galvanic isolator. Thanks for watching and 73.

USAF HFGCS Emergency Action Message copied on 11175 kHz with very rarely heard error correction

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZsHNFHm4pU

Hi there, I have never heard a message error correction made during an EAM transmission. Just goes to show what a bit of late night/early morning perserverence can deliver! Recorded on 12/03/26 at 00:59 hrs UTC using a Yaesu FRG-100 and a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna (outdoors). Thanks for watching and 73

Radio New Zealand Pacific 13755 kHz copied at 10 am UTC in the UK using the Icom IC-R8600 + Bose

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SjZ4w-eUoak

Hi there, a bit later on the morning, the signal from New Zealand picked up somewhat. It still blows my mind that I'm intercepting electromagnetic radiation generated on the other side of the planet! Here the audio is enhanced via the Bose SoundLink Mini 2 speaker. Rather nice I think given the miles and miles lol. Reception obtained using a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna via a Bonito/NTi AntennaJet RF spitter and GI1000 galvanic isolator. Thanks for watching and 73.

Vatican Radio 15490 kHz interval signal takes me back to the golden age of shortwave radio

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEAlu0WFfeQ

Hi there, I copied the Vatican Radio interval signal this afternoon (03/02/26 around 15:30 hrs UTC. It's just a lovely thing for your ears to behold! Copied using a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna (outdoors). Thanks for watching and 73.

What's left on medium wave? Trans World Radio 1377 kHz Gavar, Armenia booming into Oxford, UK

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thmzUOEiWb0

Hi there, it's been a long time since I copied TWR on this frequency. Great to hear them still on-air and of course, their signal booms into Southern England at least with their reported 1MW of TX power. Their TX location is strategically important because they're able to target Europe, the Middle East and Central Asia with one transmitter. Recorded in Oxford UK on 10/11/25 at 19:59 UTC using a Yaesu FRG-8800 and a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna (outdoors) via a Bonito/NTi AntennaJet RF splitter and GI 1000 galvanic isolator. Thanks for watching and 73.

USAF Emergency Action Message tests on 8992 kHz: callsigns "Sanwick" and "Soda Pop"

Hi there, Claude couldn't find "Sanwick" or "Soda Pop" indexed within EAM information on the web, but then perhaps that's not surprising, HFGS callsigns are regularly rotated. Anyway, maybe someone out there has more information.

Recorded in Oxford UK using an Icom IC-R75 and Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna.

Thanks for watching and 73.

What's left on medium wave? Radio Tehran 1332 kHz copied from Oxford UK at a distance of 4480 km

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-snllVXW2R8

Hi there, great to hear a signal on medium wave at this distance from my QTH. Even with a reported TX power of 300 kW, this signal wasn't exactly booming in on the Yaesu FRG-7700. I think I can obtain a higher quality copy with a better receiver, but I'm pleased anyway. Recorded in Oxford UK on 14/11/25 at 02:07 hrs UTC using a Wellbrook ALA1530 magnetic loop antenna (outdoors) via a Bonito/NTi AntennaJet RF splitter and GI1000 galvanic isolator. Thanks for watching and 73.

Comparing the best two shortwave portables of all time: Sony ICF-2001D & Eton E1 via a Bose speaker

 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFjP4XMAuF0

Hi there, here's another comparison of these two brilliant radios but with audio via my Bose SoundLink Mini 2 speaker. Sort of helps to further level up the playing field. To my ears, the reception is the same, but the audio is still slightly superior on the E1. Let me know your views. By the way, I'm using the signal from Radio New Zealand Pacific as the target. Recorded in Oxford UK on 14/11/25 at 11:19 hrs UTC using a Wellbrook ALA 1530 magnetic loop antenna (outdoors) via a Bonito/NTi AntennaJet RF splitter. Thanks for watching and 73
